Urgent help needed to install Dragon on to Windows XP for DD who can't see atm

We have a very old version of Dragon (5)

I am trying to install it for DD (12)who has suddenly stopped being able to see (we have been assured it will come back but for the moment it has gone away, along with colours)

There seems to be a conflict with XP but I am not techy enough to work it out while I am this stressed

Please can someone help me?

I managed to install it but now it cannot detect my voice

Do you know if your microphone is working? Use Skype or windows sound recorder to check.

OMG - Dragon 5? it is now on version 10: yours is nearly 10 years old and predates XP so it may or may not work.

If you cannot get an update for it there are other options:

Do you have Office XP? This has voice recognition, but only for Office applications of course.

Upgrade/buy a new PC/use a different PC with Vista or Windows 7 which have voice recognition built in.

Buy a new copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking - Amazon have it for £42.

Buy a new copy of some other voice recognition software - but Dragon is the only one I have ever heard of.

Get something through a charity - AbilityNet I am aware of, I am sure there are others, particularly local ones.

It suddenly started working

We have the problem now that DD can't read it to train it

I don't want to pay too much as it might only last a day or two (please)
