How long will a text be 'pending' to a switched off mobile?

Say you switch it off while away on holiday for 2 weeks, when you switch it on will all messages sent in that time arrive? Or is there a set amount of time a sent message will be pending before it cancels?

Thanks.

it depends on the network, messages are retried on an algorithm, something like: every 2 mins for 10 mins, then every 10 mins for an hour, then every hour for 24 hours etc.

This sounds intriguing, why are you asking?

Ooh intersting. Thanks.

Not nearly as intriguing as it could be I'm afraid - just a bit of fact finding that Google was no help with

If I leave my phone switched off, any messages recieved will be sent back after 3 days.

Very much depends on the sending network - if you go into the message options you can normally set to one of a number of choices, with the final one being 'maximum time' rather than being explicit about how many days.

However, if it shows a choice of 3 days as well as "maximum" I'd expect the maximum to be higher.
