Does anyone know what these programmes are?
Bonjour
activation assistant
broadcom
common files
conexant
cyberlink
msbuild
ukpostoffice

And why didn't mcafee pick up the Trojan &what can I use if it doesn't clear it?

Apart from 'common files' which could be anything these are all probably OK. What is the trojan and how did you discover it?

Nymphadora · 21/02/2010 20:13

was googling processes to see which I could shut down as it was running slowly.

DOne two full scans and nothing found but it is running faster now.

csrss.exe it was called and its still there

csrss.exe is (it appears) only a trojan if it is running anywhere OTHER than windows\system32

Clear as mud, I know, but IF the csrss.exe is in \windows\system32, it's apparently ok. If the exe is in dllcache or somewhere else, you should beware, remove and stop the process.

I found it in task manager, is that safe?

Activation assistant.. fine- its what you used to activate windows/ms office

broadcom and connexant - fine - to do with your modem/broadband

cyberlink - usually dvd software

msbuild - fine part of microsoft visual

common files- fine - files that are used across application

not sure what your ukpostoffice is

bruceb is right if the crss.exe process is in system 32 its fine ...if not its then its a trogan

there are good removal information at www.symantec.com

Thanks that's really useful!
