which browswer are you using?
do you mean the place on theh tab where the MN logo eventually appears?

RustyBear · 20/02/2010 14:08

It's not actually delaying you, it's just giving you something to look at while your computer/internet connection is delaying you...

It also shows you that something is happening so you don't keep clicking on the link.

Firefox - yes net to Mumsnet Discussions - When I...

It takes ages - much longer than ever before

Is something set wrong?

At the bottom right the box with the green lines in is delayed too

Often after 3 or 4 minutes I still have no page

as rusty says it aint the roundy thing or the bar, it's your connection to the net

restart the computer
if that doesn't help, check your router

Isn't that funny it's been doing it for days & just stopped now I mentioned it

I wonder if I'm being spied on?

It might not actually be the connection to the net that's the problem...

A web page can have lots of information pulled in from different other sites, so for example an advert photo / Flash animation might be on a heavily used server.

The circling indicator just means that there are still parts of the page 'yet to load'. Opera shows something like "50/52 items" on some pages, and I know that there are only a couple more items to come...

In my case, on some PCs, I've locked out adverts from ever being displayed from some websites, and eventually the page might be displayed with a marker in place of an image, or with an error message displayed in place of some text, if I've done so.

If the spinning marker irritates me, I just hit the escape key or the 'stop loading' control on the browser and only if there's something missing which I was potentially interested in, will I bother to 'refresh' the page and wait for the missing item(s) to appear.

So it might be one of the ads on MN - you press esc & it just shows what it's got so far.....I'll try that

Thanks
