I am a total numpty about these things so please be kind.

I have just got an iphone and want to access the internet. A prompt comes up to join the wifi network for my pc and I assumed that the password it asks for is the network key printed on the modem?? This doesn't work though.

Help please. I don't even really understand what the hell i'm talking about. Thanks.

th password is whatever you set your password to in order to connect to your wifi. Ours is not the network key under the modem.

hth?

Oh.

How do I set the password please? I have Windows Vista.

You do have to be careful how you enter the password - it is case sensitive and you don't put in the spaces. Also, even if all the letters are capitals, don't use the caps lock, use the shift arrow each time (no idea why)

I've also found that it tends to work better if you go to Settings-General-Network-WiFi (at the bottom of the screen, scroll down) and enter the password there, rather than putting it in when you call up a webpage.
Some ISP's boxes also need you to press a 'pairing' button while you are joining, especially if it's for the first time.

My iPhone has recently developed a bad habit of losing the saved password if I happen to try to connect while the box(orange livebox) is updating & I spent an annoyingly long time trying to reconnect last weekend, so I am rather more familiar than I'd like with the joining process at the moment!

Thank you.

That was a far more helpful response than anything on the apple website.
