My laptop seems to have reset itself. HELP!

OMG
All of my files have disappeared and my laptop seems to have reset.
I had to sign in and it took my password but all my pics, music... everything, gone. Except, when I look at recently changed stuff I can see the most recent pics, music and docs. And my programs (word 2007, firefox etc) are still there but needing set up.

Last night everything was fine.

Any ideas?

OS Vista
Processor: MD Athalon 64 x 2 dual core TK-55
HD: Toshiba 1237GSX ATA Device 111.79GB

I doubt everything is gone if you had to sign in with your username and password. If you'd accidentally done a factory reset, it wouldn't have knowledge of your user account.
