advice please on sony vaio

hi, my lovely sony vaio has lost its little widget thing for the adaptor to plug into. so i cant use it as i cant charge it. sony want me to pay them 240 plus vat to fix it.
i have fount this widget on ebay. it says its for a sony vaio vgn a, ar and bx. will it fit my vgn ns20E? at the base, it says on my laptop that it is model pcg 7154m
advice much appreciated.

Are you sure this is what is broken/missing? This is not a trivial repair - case open (never easy with a Vaio, might need a special tool or risk damaging the case), soldering iron, maybe need to reattach wires to circuit board requiring PCB soldering precautions (anti-static, heat sink).

Are you confident taking this on?

If not, I agree upwards of £270 is a lot to pay so try a local computer shop.

£75 is reasonable for this job on a Vaio.
