why has my pointer become a hand and how can I get it back??

This happens on webpages and means I can't highlight an e-mail address or copy and paste, I can't even type on some forums (thanks goodness I can here).

I suspect my 1 year old dd has hit a random button and done something that I have no idea how to fix

is it all the time? It does that when you're on a link - easiest way to copy and paste is to move to a non-link (or button) area of the page.

when I say on a link I mean hovering over one
so if you move the cursor to my name it should, but if you move it to the middle of a message it should be a pointer or the text selector bar thing
