How long would it take to use 1gb of internet access when just surfing the web?

I'm looking at a mobile broadband dongle thing for the laptop for when we're away in the campervan. Just thought this could probably be cheaper than an iphone.

O2 do a pay as you go deal which is ideal as I don't want a monthly contract. You can get a weekly 1gb access for £7.50. So it stops working after a week or after 1gb is used up. If I'm just on the internet looking at websites how long will 1gb last approx?

Thanks

You might find it worth looking at other dongles (I've seen 3 GB and 12 GB limits on the 3 network, 3 month/ 3 GB usage or 12 months/12 GB usage).

Depends where you will go (might be worth checking with the network websites about coverage wherever you plan to travel).

If you think it will be a "one off" (ie only be used for a single break, and not expecting to use whole of 3 GB or 12 GB) then you'd probably be able to sell the dongle and remaining allowance via Ebay, say.

There's also Vodafone to consider, and some of the dongles were around 20 pounds at Asda (you then add a SIM and PAYG for the data limit you want, on top of the cost of the dongle).

www.broadband.org/usage_calculator.html is useful to help you estimate - but don't forget that it's working out monthly usage, so divide by 4!
