How do I delete pdfs?

I am using a macbook. I can get the list of pdfs and at the bottom it says 'clear list'. Does this delete all of them? If so how can select ones to delete?

List of PDFs? Where are you getting this list?

'Tools' then click on 'downloads'

OK I'm guessing you're using Firefox, a bit more information is handy when asking for help as I could be wasting my time with the next bit (but it's worth a pop anyway).

If this is Firefox then selecting "clear list" or right clicking one item and selecting "Remove from list" will just delete from your record of downloads. It won't actually delete the files.

The list of downloads is literally just a list of what you've been up to. You can remove items from the list and they're not deleted. You can also delete items from your disk and they're not taken out of the list.

To delete the files you need to find them in the Finder and drag them to the trash.

The list will help you here, if you right click on an item and select show in Finder it will open Finder in the right place and with the item selected. Then you can drag it to the trash.

Believe me Badger if I knew what information to give you I would have done in the first place.
I am indeed using firefox. That much I do know.
'Right click' has lost me as I am not using a mouse.
'Finder also has me for the moment although I know I've seen it before. Does that appear on the top bar when I close firefox?

Oh and thanks for that bit of help.

Just telling me that you're using Firefox and this list was visible by selecting Tools/Downoads is all the information that I'm after.

Finder is the tool you use to actually view the files on your disk. You can open it by selecting it from the dock at the bottom of the screen.

To do a right click hold down the ctrl key and do a normal click.

So now follow the stuff above about how the list works.

The main thing I think you'll do is to right click on one of the PDFs, select "reveal in finder" and then drag the PDF to the trash.

And actually yes Finder will appear on the top menu bar when you close Firefox.

You can also bring up the actual Finder Window by selecting "New Finder Window" from the File menu.

Or click on the Finder icon on the dock, whichever takes your fancy.
