MacBooks! I've got the iMac, now I want to go mobile with my editing. I hate being tied to post production rooms at uni, and some of the edit suites in the library won't let me log in. Actually, a lot of the Macs in the library won't.

So I'm getting a MacBook.

I just don't know which one. If anyone can tell me the prices for the white one, and the first 2 Pro ones, it'd be great.

If you can tell me the prices with the education discount it'd be even better.

Anything else I need to know? I'd quite like to get a pretty cover for it, so that it's not just silver and boring lol.

Err if your serious about FCP you need to look at the minimum system requirements to run it scroll down a bit on this page and spec your mac accordingly you will def need to increase the amount of memory from the standard amount for HD work. Education store is here need to access it from uni campus to see the discount.

Thanks I've finally bitten the bullet and ordered a Macbook (just the little white one) simply because, my main work on it will be mostly word processing/Photoshop.

I've checked the specs out, and done some reading on some Mac forums, everywhere I've read says this machine will run FCP, but that Motion etc won't run well. Which is fine, all I want to do editing wise on the Macbook is simple stuff, and hopefully only in emergencies when post production rooms are full. I'll install it, see if it's gonna work and if it's more trouble than it's worth, I'll uninstall.
