Why is my tumble dryer leaking?

I have a condenser tumble dryer.

It was moved a week or so ago to another position (we have the builders in) and promptly started pissing water all over the floor whenever it was used. I cleaned out the heat exchanger and put it back in again, wondering whether it had become a bit loose.

It was fine after that.

Now it has been moved again and has started once more. I have done the procedure above once more but I am not sure it has worked.

I guess it's just about possible that each time it was moved the Heat Exchanger had come loose or un-clicked (it says you have to push it in till it clicks to prevent leaks).

Has anyone else had this? I need to know whether or not I need a new one before we have the nice new floor put down.

Any ideas?

Not had that but have you checked all filters often worth cleaning them all out as they can get blocked.

What make, model etc of dryer? Details should be on a plate somewhere maybe near electrical entry point, or inside rim of door opening.

The UKWhiteGoods Forum is a good place to post for advice. You may find a local engineer who know's the fault and a quick fix. For example it may be a seal or a hose that need replacing. You do need to post as much detail as possible though, especially model number from the electric rating plate. That way engineers can look up parts that may be needed as well as knowing what common faults there are with that particular model.

Check the water collector is fitting snugly and that any seals visible are looking ok.

Different machines will have different setups... the one I used to fix fiddle with had a condenser bottom right, water bottle holder top left.

My tumble drier leaks too - have no idea why it happens very inconsistently and the filters have been checked and emptied regularly.

It sits on a worktop above the washing machine and totally trashed the washing machine it as the water leaked through the top and got into the electrics .

You can buy water trays to sit underneath them, which we are going to buy now to hopefully save our new washing machine from getting ruined too.
