Get a warning message when googling

My son has a Packard Bell laptop and has suddenly got probs when searching on google.

He gets this message at the top:

http:/www.google.co.uk/#warning

He has had this since Sunday.

Swears blind he hasn't downloaded anything recently- but did have some funny chain emails apparantly which he deleted straight away.

Please advise of what this means and how to remedy this problem.

Thanks

That doesn't look like a meaningful warning message. Is that what you meant to put in?

You don't need to use Google. Use another search engine instead- Yahoo, Alta Vista, etc. There's lots of them.

Knowhowe. Wouldn't work for any search engine, same message but no worries it appears to have sorted itself.

Even though it has stopped I think you should make sure your anti-virus program is up to date and scan the computer.

Also since it looks for different things I'd use an anti-spyware program like Spybot to scan too. It might save grief later if anything dodgy has installed itself.

There are several (probably 100s) of evil programs that change where you go where you click links etc
