Ringtone Virgin needs help

I don't like the ringtones on my phone.
Thought of one I might like, but not sure how to find it (was this). Seems like I might or totally might not be able to get it only via dodgy-looking subscription service.

Is there an easier/safer way? How should I go about getting a different/better ring tone? Network=Virgin, if that's relevant.

I have recorded a few short pieces off music tracks to make MP3s and then set my phone to use those short (2-5 second) sound chunks instead of the standard ringtones, but knowing what phone you have (and therefore whether it allows you to set your own) may help us to answer you...

Do you not know anyone who has a decent tune on their phone and they can send it to you. Its probably the easiest way and if you do it via bluetooth it doesnt cost anything either.

Gosh, why does it have to be so complicated!

It's a Virgin Lobster 575.
Come to think of it, I can't think of any ringtones I've heard on anybody else's phone that I did like. Most of them are pretty downright awful (!).

Do you upload the MP3s via a USB cable WebDude? (no idea if I can do that, mind).

Just been looking for a manual or specification for that model - could not spot one. The Lobster 544 on the Virgin website has a USB port at the base of the phone, so hopefully yours does too.

Yes, I used a USB cable for mine, but it's not one of the Virgin Mobile range (I tried to look for yours on the GSMArena.com website, which carries specification for many types of phones available, but again no luck...

Did come across

www.mobilegazette.com/lobster-575-06x07x06.htm

which discusses the model you have

(bhbetty - the Lobster 575 phone has no bluetooth, unfortunately)

Thanks Webdude for going to the trouble to look that up.
