I have been going round in circles for months now, trying to decide on a laptop.
I need a dependable brand, as need it to last for a good few years.
Budget is around £399 prefeably, up to £450 absolute max.
This is the one I have my eye on and I think it is quite good valur for money.
asus from ebuyer

I intend to use it mainly for surfing, mnetting, facebooking, watching dvds and streaming live tv (also possibly downloading if poss), as well as storing photos and possibly some video editing.

Does anyone own one or have any opinions on this laptop/asus in general?

Immediate reaction.....

It's got the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on it. This could be a problem if you've got some old pieces of hardware (scanners, printers etc.) as you may not be able to get a driver for it.

It's got an integrated graphics card, it's not going to be terribly good at the latest computer games (though this doesn't sound like it's a problem for you).

The hard disk is a decent size, 250gb, lots of room for photos (but make sure you back them up to somewhere else).

4gb is a decent amount of memory.

I've got no idea how good the brand is though.....

thanks badgers. I hummed and hawed about the graphics but decided it shouldn't be a problem.
