Why do we have to do it - I know it's on the Polar Express and it's just on the one I've sat down to watch and I've always wondered what's it's for?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Because they sell the identical DVD in lots of European countries, so it has all those different languages on it - it makes it cheaper for them than having to make and sell an English version, and a French one, and all the others separately.

Oh wow really it's different languages (I thought that was selected in 'set-up'!)

On the polar express I'm sure it has UK, Australia and Rep of Ireland which is why I thought it wasn't language - unless they change the accents - lol

Thanks for the info!! I will no longer have to ask whoevers near me why I have to select it!!

it's more the copyright laws that are quoted at the beginning than the language.
you should be glad you get the choice: a lot of DVDs you have to sit through 30 copyright notices because you can't skip them.

Oh right - that bit where I normally head off an make a cup of tea - it is all very snoresome
