Have read through the other macbook threads devoured all info contained in them!

However, am just wondering WHY you all love your macbooks so much more than an 'ordinary' pc.

I think it is likely I will buy one just need more ammunition for DH who is an apple-hater

Thank you!

Why I love my Mac?

  • No viruses, no anti-virus software clogging up my machine, no worrying about anti-virus updates and knowing that it's a fundamentally more secure Operating System than Windows.
  • An easy to use suite of software packages for what I do day to day (Photos, Music and Videos).
  • It's a more efficient system on the same hardware than bloated Windows is.
  • The Operating System feels "nice", using my Mac is a pleasure, using my PC is work.
  • The physical unit itself is nice.

However I've got to make clear that there are some other issues to do with how I feel about Macs....

  • I don't play a lot of games, gaming on Macs sucks.
  • I work all day on PCs where I prefer their flexibility and power, I couldn't imagine doing my job on a Mac as the tools just aren't as good.

It's worth pointing out that you can install Windows on Macs, but then you're loosing your disk space, going through some technical hoops and paying Microsoft a fair bit of cash for the privilege.

The virus thing is the overwhelming factor. PC viruses are such a fact of life that people can't believe that there aren't any viruses for Mac OS X- that's right- NONE. If there was a pill you could take that would prevent you from getting any viruses, you'd take it, wouldn't you? Well, in the computer world you can- buy a Mac.

And if you're going to sit in front of the thing for hours every day, why buy an ugly one?
