How to open pictures to a folder using windows as the default setting rather than camera software?

Anyone help me do this? Have windows vista and was able to do it on old desktop but can't find the setting to do it on new laptop. TIA

Try Control Panel- Hardware and Sound- Play CDs or other media automatically. You'll find a lot of drop-down menus for different types of media & you should be able to choose the appropriate action from the list.

Hi RustyBear - thanks, have tried what you suggested and have unticked the box at the top to deselect autoplay, but it still keeps going to the camera software rather than windows - any other suggestions?

Which camera software do you use? - it may have a setting that overrides Windows - can you find where to change the configuration settings so the camera program isn't set as the default for opening pictures?

Can you get to a view where you see the icons for the image files? If so, then try Right Click : Open With In the dialog box that appears, select the application you want to open the file and see if there is a check box towards bottom of the dialog box to set that as default.

Hi RustyBear - managed it - there was a setting overriding windows in the camera app, thanks for that, am sorted now
