It keeps failing & closing Excell......

Is there a converter?

Did you get the doc from someone? I always save in Excel 2003 compatible doc rather than in Excel 2007 as I know that many people cannot open a 2007 doc.

Not sure if you can convert the other way around.

No it's mine on a memory stick - my real laptop is in the menders

I'll have a look at that - Thanks

MmeLindt's link (try saying that quickly!) works really well - there's a tiny delay while the document is converted, but you don't really notice it. At the school I work at we have 2003 on the class laptop sets and 2007 on the ICT suite & I've put the file convertor on all the laptops.

One thing to remember though is that if you want to open the file from inside Word 2003 (rather than via Windows Explorer/My Computer) you need to change the file type in the 'Open' dialogue box from 'Word document' to 'All Files', or it won't see the docx files.

Just noticed you're talking about Excel, but same thing applies anyway...

Thanks - that's useful
