saving a scratched dvd

A friend of DH's lent us a series of DVDs and the little horrors little darlings attacked one!
I've always been a bit about those things that claim to be able to remove scratches etc from CD/DVDs but I'm desperate.

Do any of them work? Has anyone got a way of saving this DVD?

Do you have a Gamestation near you?

We have taken many a game/cd/dvd there and all have been sorted even an XBOX game which looked like a cat had been clawing it for hours!

Think it costs £2 per disc but would recommend giving it a go.
