Can anyone please advise me re webcams? Am fairly un-techie and DD wants one for Christmas - what/where to buy?

DD has asked for a webcam for Christmas, if I buy a cheapo one will it be crap? I know NOTHING about webcams really. Are any particular brands or models good or will any old one do?

got a Logitech one from Amazon. I'm not a techie at all, so it suits me as it's simple, cheap and does the job.
