I have film taken on my camera (mostly MP4's) and on my phone (some MP4 some .3gp (I think))
I have tried using the DVD 'wizard' to burn a DVD video disc but it just sas the disc is 'bad' when I try to play it in a dvd player.
Any hints?

When you put the disk into your Computer does it play as any other DVD would using your usual DVD playing software?

Also some DVD players don't play all types of writable DVD disks. Is your player compatible with the type of disk your using?

If I put it in the laptop it does play but then in a dvd player it wont.

I am making it to send to my grandpa, so I need it compatible with all dvd's really.

So it does actually play through your DVD player software? When you look at the disk through Windows Explorer (I'm presuming you're on Windows) what files do you see?

What I'm trying to do is to make sure that you're making a standard video DVD and not just making a DVD computer disk.

I use DVD+R disks, but there are more such as DVD-R and then the re-writable ones.

Not all DVD players support all types of disk and there's really not a lot you can do about that.

If you find out what DVD player your Granddad has you should be able to check what it supports.

I am using Vista and DVD-R discs.
When I put in a blank disc it gives me the autoplay box with options to
Burn DVD data disc using windows media player
Burn files to Disc using Wnidows
Burn a DVD video Disc using windows DVD maker
NTI-CD Maker using NTi-CD maker
Label a lightscribe disc using lightscribe direct disc labelling
Burn to disc using DVDivine

I have no clue which one to try, adn have forgotten which one I did for the first attempt

When I put the disc burnt onto the laptop it just plays it through media player.

You will need to pick the "Burn a DVD video Disc using windows DVD maker" option.

How do other normal DVDs play when you put them into your computer?

They automatically open media player as well(until I swear at them and open them in media centre instead) But then they shoudl always work on the laptop if I burnt them there, surely. Will try that though, thanks.
