This might be a long shot, but are any of you familiar with Linux/Xandros? I have managed to uninstall, by mistake, the browser from my rather elderly netbook and the reinstalling is proving to be rather challenging... Have tried searching the web but have not found a solution so far.

Would be grateful for any suggestions...

Not really, it has a "easy desktop" or a terminal-style option- which is the one I used to update firefox. It worked, I had thought, but then when I restarted it firefox had gone...

I can ask DH when he wakes up as if he doesn't know he might have some ideas about where to look/who to ask

Xandros on the eee is horrible. I replaced it with Eeebuntu NBR long ago and am much happier, but this is quite a geeky option.

Are you sure you have deleted FF, not just the icon?

The best place for help is eeeuser.com, if you can't get it fixed there you won't get it fixed anywhere.

Thank you for all this. The icon is still there, but pressing it does not launch the program. Would normally know how to fix in Windows but am utterly stuck on the Eee. Will try some of the solutions you have recommended...
