URGENT - how can I identify IP addresses?

...namely my own and another one that is in a failure message? Looks like someone has hacked my email

whatismyipaddress.com/ will show your IP address. Click on "IP Lookup" next to the map and enter the other IP address.

I've just had a thought about the failure message you got. Was it notifying you that an email couldn't be delivered, or something like that, but it was an email you didn't send? Some spammers spoof someone else's email address to send out their spam; it's called a "joe job" - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_job - "A joe job is a spamming technique that sends out unsolicited e-mails using spoofed sender data. ... they are now typically used by commercial spammers to conceal the true origin of their messages."

It could be that your email account hasn't been hacked. But if you want to give more information, I (or other more knowledgeable people) could give you further advice.

Spoofing the address that an email was sent from is incredibly easy, there's simply no security or authentication on it.

What isn't so easy to hide, if it's at all possible, is the machines involved in actually sending that email address.

What has actually happened and what are you trying to find out?
