if you listen to music on your phone - can you use hands free headphones to listen to it....or do you have to get proper headphones (my daughter has broken her headphones and I am looking for replacement ones....but some are hands free and some are headphones)

you should be able to use handsfree - but be careful because not all phones have a normal headphone socket

nokias for eg often have a slightly smaller output thingy so ordinary headphones won't plug in

It's impossible to generalize, it all depends on the model of the 'phone. What model is it? If you don't know, it will usually say on a sticker under the battery or on the lid of the battery compartment.

Worth checking her headphones to see if they match the "ordinary" 3.5mm plug that normal ones have, and then compare with the hands-free plug.

With "normal" h/phones, there will be three pieces of metal (ie two insulating layers) so there's a common connection, plus one for Left and second for Right.

With my Nokia mobiles, there's another insulating layer (to provide for the microphone). Similarly for my Motorola phone.

Odds are she can listen OK unless there are separate sockets for hands-free and "music" listening. Sorry, don't yet have a J700 myself - planning to get one soon.
