Something is very worng with my mouse

Help me please I can't use anything - great blocks of excel keep highlighting - can't do anything on the desktop page everything keeps opening

How do I fix it?

Restart the computer? Is it a wireless mouse - they burn up the batteries like you wouldn't believe and then go a bit crazy.

I restarted it & it was still funny

So I posted this thread & now it works.....go figure??? or possibly

Is it an old-fashioned mouse with a roller ball? They need cleaning every so often. Actually, I miss the satisfaction of dismantling my mouse and cleaning the ball and the little bars it rested against....

Oh yes, do de-gunk it if it's the traditional kind - you should be able to open it up quite easily and clean the rollers.

If it's a ball-less one, have you tried running it on a different surface, they can be funny sometimes.
