new dect phone

Hi looking at getting the c475 possibly ip from siemens, anyone got it - is it any good -and do I have to have ethernet and phone line next to each other?

The Gigaset website wasn't really that clear about what the two parts (wall box, and stand with phone {*}) do - I'm assuming the wall box includes the wireless transmitter to allow connection to several different handsets.

Certainly you'll need the ethernet connection and phone line ending up next to each other at that box, assuming you want landline and IP calls via both to be possible...

{*} looked at the accessories and other pages and saw there were at least 3 different handsets with different capabilities (and no doubt increasing prices!)

Might be worth a look at a few websites from telecom service firms offering VoIP, such as Andrews and Arnold www.aa.nu and companies providing SIP services (like www.sipgate.co.uk ) in case they have reviews or recommendations (and possibly other phones you had not considered).

(In the past I've used Sipgate and the software phone X-Ten I think it was called, but have not yet used any phone handset for VoIP.)
