I couldn't see any threads for those of us who like our games, so I thought I'd see if there are any game geeks out there.

What games do you play? What are you looking forward to? What's your favourite? And the essential question, PC or console?

I'm a PC gamer, currently playing through Dreamfall and Mass Effect. I would be playing Age of Conan or Guild Wars, but I get fairly hooked on MMO's and as we're TTC my fiance has banned me from them lol.

Hi Kal
Hubby and I play WoW together .
As for consoles, he prefers games that involve shoot 'ems, racing, etc, while I prefer RPG's
Not sure why your fiance has banned you from playing MMO's, it can be very relaxing (which would help if you are TTC) unless you tend to have a 'problem' with them lol
As for that ALLL important question;
Consoles are great when the net is down or you are having to defrag the pc...
Also depends on what you feel like doing at the time and how hooked you are on a game!

Me and DH play X-box, we like Gears of War, Halo, Left for Dead ect Would like to try the new Saw game.

catinthehat2 · 08/11/2009 19:09

I play Wii bowling, am struggling with the baseball game however.

Good luck chaps, little bump for you!

KnickKnack · 08/11/2009 21:47

I played Nostale for ages last year, but at age 37 I eventually got bored as everyone seemed to be around 13

I can't find anything else I like at the moment (has to be free!) so I've dug out Myst 3 from years ago, I love it just as much now as I did back then, I definitely prefer puzzle/logic/figure it out type games.

DS has an old xbox which we picked up for £15 but I haven't got around to buying any games for myself yet. no excuse as they all cost less than £10 in my local shop! For now, I just do the "mammy I'm stuck can you help" bits on his games.

Kaloki · 09/11/2009 14:43

Good to know there are other gamers on here.

My fiance hasn't actually banned me from them, but I do tend to geta little obsessed once I am playing. Never tried WoW, did try Champions Online the other day but was bored within half an hour (essentially only the character creation is any fun).

I can't decide whether I want to try the new Saw game, I'm hoping there's a demo online to try.

I swing between MMO's and puzzle/logic games. My favourite ever game is Grim Fandango.

KnickKnack · 09/11/2009 18:36

Grim Fandango looks cool!

Can anyone recommend a free online game? A friend has recommended Cabel, but I'm not drawn to it (haven't tried it, just judging the book by its cover LoL)

Kaloki · 09/11/2009 22:46

Not played any free online games for a while, just demos on Steam (highly recommend Machinarium)

OP posts:
KnickKnack · 11/11/2009 15:53

I've downloaded machinarium...its hugely addictive in a "I'll just do one more little bit and then turn it off" kinda way!

Kaloki · 11/11/2009 16:55

I've only played the demo, which is frustratingly short. As soon as we have some spare cash I may have to spoil myself

Just thought I'd add Borderlands to the list of recommended games. It's really good, and I especially love the dancing robot!

Hey...

DW & I team up for left 4 dead. She's working her way thru Half-Life 2 (orginal, ep1 & 2) while spend a few hours on EMpire Total war...

Kaloki · 18/11/2009 01:28

I'm not so good at shooter games, Borderlands is my first really, think Kerriko is happy as it means there are now more games we can play together

OP posts:
CarmenSanDiego · 18/11/2009 02:28

Me, me. Just finished Borderlands and got the new CoD to play. I play pretty much everything and anything

Used to play WoW with dh, but it's too much of a time sink for me.

Kaloki · 18/11/2009 13:44

Never tried WoW, despite playing AoC and Guild Wars. Probably a good thing, I get far far too hooked on MMORPG's

yummymummybuster · 14/03/2010 17:21

used to play wow, want to start again (acc got hacked)

favourite game ever is bioshock 2

CarmenSanDiego · 14/03/2010 17:32

Just finished Bioshock 2. I feel a bit depressed that there's nothing around that will live up to it at the moment...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2010 17:35

I'm a ps3 gamer when I get chance - does that count? not very hard core. Pyschonauts is my favourite ever game.
would never dare try WoW, I would lose my life to it.

CarmenSanDiego · 14/03/2010 17:39

There's a Battlestar Galactica MMO coming out soon. I never really watched the new BSG but I think the game could be really good.

Although I'm scared of MMOs too - far, far too time consuming! I lost weeks to WoW ;)

differentID · 14/03/2010 17:43

I'm an xbox360 gamer. My absolute fave is Oblivion. I also like the Halo series.

I used to play Guild Wars on PC, but then stopped for some reason and can't get back into it.

Kevlarhead · 15/03/2010 23:28

OOOOOHhh! Just finished Bioshock 2 for the second time, and I was wanting to talk about it. I'd intended to go down the Evil route on my seconf play, but I... can't. Just can't. Went through it again finding all sorts of nooks and crannies I'd missing the first time.

Was rather chuffed with playing as a Big Daddy... there's something about drilling low-life into a wall while a small girl shouts encouragment...

Fellow BS2ers; did you go Good, or Evil? And did you kill Grace Holloway?

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 16/03/2010 12:34

I am currently hooked on WOW, only started playing 2 weeks ago. Its more addictive than crack I reckon, not that I've tried crack. No housework getting done here.

CarmenSanDiego · 16/03/2010 21:57

I thought about playing BS2 evil but couldn't do it. And couldn't kill Grace.

My husband played it through twice and swore he was going to play it evil. But couldn't.

Did you, KH?

cookielove · 16/03/2010 22:10

i am a wow widow, its like job to dp on it from 5.30-10.30 (he actually has to play, he signed up to a guild)

I however am more of a level, puzzle kind of gamer, like zelda series, like all mario games, have tried loads of dp shooting war kind of games, but apparently walking shooting re loading hiding is too much for me

We have ps3, wii, x box 360, Pc, 1 Nds,1Ndsi, and 2 psp, and we play on all of them.

Kevlarhead · 16/03/2010 22:18

I was planning to, as I thought that's what you had to do to get the key. But then I got into her apartment and found the little curtained off kids room with the bed and height chart (with teddy marked too) and the voice recording about her fostering Eleanor and that was that. COuldn't do it.

Never yet let Stanley Poole live though; snivelling little turd.

I'm hoping they bring Grace back for Bioshock 3. Let her team up with Tenebaum and be surrogate mother to a whole nest of girls...

CarmenSanDiego · 16/03/2010 22:27

Yeah, she's a great character. I'd like to see more of her.

But Bioshock 3 needs more. This felt a bit too short and sequelish rather than a strong game on its own.

I loved it, but I wanted more.
