Recovering phone data? [sad]

I have an HTC s710 and just connected it to synchronise with my laptop.

For some reason all my contacts and diary entries have been wiped, I am really upset as I use every single function of the phone and I haven't written up everything on the kitchen calendar, it's like my entire lifeline to the outside world has gone!! can anybody help?

There will be support forums on the site of your phone's manufacturer. Lots of techy obsessives are lurking there right now, desperate for a question like this.

Track them down, ask them.

Wiped from the phone or wiped from the laptop (this may sound like a dense question but have you set up a group diary and an individual one and are just looking at the wrong subset?)

Hiya WMMCC- nope, all wiped from phone.

I have a new laptop cos I had to send old one back. I was synchronising to new one cos I have videos on the phone I wanted to upload and BING, all gone. Didn't realise until I tried texting someone and there's no numbers there!

Hmm have you checked your laptop trash/bin to see if they have helpfully shoved them all in there. Otherwise you may well be buggered I'm afraid

You probably have your synchronisation settings set so that the laptop data overrides the phone data.

Whomovdmychocolate - yes I did look in there, but the stuff's vanished off the phone...gone in a flash!

ProfessorLaytonismyzombiesalve (love the nickname, have just bought the game for me hols) - you are absoluely right, I am sure that's what I've done. You'd think "they" (Windows and HTC) would make it slightly less easy to wipe the phone, perhaps one little warning message would be nice.

I doubt you can wipe it without a warning message, but sometimes it's easy to accidentally click 'ok' if you're working fast and not really looking.

Personally, I have a bad feeling your info is gone, but the last link (expansys) one looked good to me.

Thanks lindsaygii but it's gone - expansys were great though, they reckon it may be on my old laptop (which I had to send back and I don't have anymore.... so I have asked old HO nicely if they will see if it's there..)

It's an activesync bug - it happens a lot I have read. It doesn't say "warning you are going to delete everything" anywhere, and doesn't tell you that creating a new partnership between phone and computer will wipe the old one!

Now does anybody know where I'm supposed to be next week ........
