Help! Cat typing during game has done this. What do I do?

DD was playing a game; cat wandered across keyboard, game closed down. DD reopened it and got madness on the screen (pix on profile).

Usually this game uses the entire screen and doesn't show in either bright pink or bright green! Now it opens in a small window in the centre of the monitor, at first using half the window in bright pink, and then the green bit superimposes on top. The green bit is actually two occurrences of the same game-screen, where you load saved game etc.

Anyone got any idea how to sort this out?

Don't want to re-install as dd will lose her saved game that she's been working on for a loooooooong time.

Are you on Windows? Do a rollback to yesterday - (called system restore).

Jux · 21/10/2009 23:25

Done a system restore too.

I'm pretty sure it's some weird switch to do with games/the game.

If I spent less time on mn and more time on games I'd probably know! Damn you mn, damn you!

I can't help with the problem in hand, but maybe you should install this when you get it sorted.

I love how you have a picture of the cat as well

Sorry I have no idea, apart from going into the graphics card options (in control panel) and having a play around with them. Might do more harm than good though. I would imagine the cat has switched the game into a video mode the video card can't handle, if you can switch it back it will be fine.

What is the game called, Caesar III? Sometimes if can you find fan forums for the game itself you might get some more specialised help.

BertieBotts · 21/10/2009 23:35

OK try right-clicking on the game shortcut (logo) on the desktop. Click Properties. There should be a tab called Compatability, click this and tell us what the settings are.

BTW - found some Caesar III forums here in case nobody on MN can help:

Ninja, annoyingly, I've come across that before and just laughed at it!

Bertie, you're marvellous! I changed the colour settings and it's fine again. Thanks so much (and all in time for dd to play after school).
