it says wlan & bluetooth are disabled, I've clicked on the connect text, but it's not in bold & nothing happens. It also says press wireless button....I've no idea where or what it is. Any ideas??? Please.

What laptop do you have? On mine there is an option to 'turn airport on/off' which you have to make sure is on.....

What Operating System do you use?

If you're on XP you can try doing the following....

  • Open up the Control Panel (Try Start Menu/Settings/Control Panel)
  • Open up Network Connections
  • There should be a heading for "LAN or High Speed Internet", look for an entry under that called "Wireless Network Connection"
  • Right click the wireless network connection and see if there's an option saying "enable" or something similar.

Vista should be similar, but I've not got access to it to check.

Mac OS X will be very different.

Thanks....I've found the wireless button, I'm not thick really. It just sends me into panic mode when it doesn't work.

For some reason computer manufacturers always seem to put the wireless switch just where it can be most easily turned off by accident - if it's a slider switch, they put it at the side where you grip the laptop to carry it & if it's a push button they put it on the front edge, so you turn it off when you push the laptop backwards....

Gateway (on one model at least) uses the function key and 2, so cannot be accidentally switched on or off...
