I have experience with nuilding my own pcs and changing drives and such but never on a laptop

Is it even someything I should be trying or shluf I take it to the nice computer man I now?

I mean building not nuilding lol

These are not the easiest of laptops to DIY repair, but google the model number and 'repair' and you should find instructions from someone who has done it.
