Sorting out margins on a trifold leaflet - there must be a 'trick' to it?

The front bit (& back bit) looks lobsided

I have used columns to get 3 sections on each peice of A4 but when I print it - it just looks odd & not centred

Is there a 'trick' to it?

Columns need to be 100mm front, 99mm middle and 98mm back if using c fold to work proper

hope that makes sense

wingandprayer · 07/08/2009 20:41

Can't seem to speak proper tonight though...

Katymac · 07/08/2009 20:45

What is c fold?

C fold is where right hand panel folds in behind front cover. As you unfold it forms a c shape. Is usual form for trifold leaflets.

as opposed to z fold where middle pannel folded behind front cover and right hand panel forms back page.

God this is hard to describe in writing.

Katymac · 07/08/2009 20:59

Ah so it is a C fold

OK front bit (& page 2) is 100mm
back bit (& centre page) is 99mm?
& folded bit is 98mm?

Is that right?

Nope this makes no sense to me

I must be thick

OP posts:
wingandprayer · 07/08/2009 21:25

Yes that's it. Will that fix your problem do you think?

Katymac · 07/08/2009 21:31

Nope each of the columns are 8.9? & the margins are wrong

What margins? Ones round the edge of page? What program you doing this in? Word? Publisher?

Need zero margins of just five mm with 10mm gutter on columns otherwise. Though then you could encounter problems if you desktop printing them.

Give me a bit more info about the job and will try to help!

wingandprayer · 07/08/2009 21:52

Zero margin OR 5mm sorry. Blame wine...

Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:01

I'm in word

I have a .2 mm margin left & right

I now get that I need .4 in between columns

I had it all done my eye then I had to change it & I want to get it right now

I am stuggling to get the logo lined up at the bottom

Zoom in as it can make small movements easier. What program you in though?

Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:08

Sorry I'm in WOrd

if I make the columns 8.6, 8.8 & 9 that seems to look ok (ish)

OP posts:
Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:09

No there is too big a margin on the front page it needs trimming

OP posts:
wingandprayer · 07/08/2009 22:24

If margins 2mm and column dividers 4mm column widths should be 96/95/94mm based on a4 page

Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:28

no - they are 8.something not 9.something

I think something is going very wrong

OP posts:
wingandprayer · 07/08/2009 22:32

Check your page set up. What you are saying doesn't add up - literally. Have you got page size set to Letter instead of A4?

Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:42

OK I started with a clean page (A4)

I have 0.2 margins at either side

I have 3 columns
9.6,0.4,9.5,.04,9.4

Is that right?

OP posts:
Katymac · 07/08/2009 22:43

Or should it be
9.4,0.4,9.5,0.4,9.6??

You are a star - it is pretty damn near perfect

Thank you so much

So sorry I desserted you. Phone died bed called and this soonest I could get back. Glad to hear all is well though!

Katymac · 08/08/2009 18:11

The very right hand edge of the print is over the edge of the margin - but I am sure I can fix it

Thanks for all your help
