Where's my sound gone?

Just had a look in my control panel, ran a test and speakers are working fine but I can't get them to play sound on video clips on t'internet. Is there a menu hidden away somewhere that might have an on button?! I'm on windows vista if that helps! TIA

Aahaaaa. This happened to me only yesterday!
My fella told me to download vista driver I think its called (he is not here at moment)
Did this, turned computer off and then on and voila, volume back.
Just type in 'vista driver' to search engine.
