Please help me before I start having steam coming out of my ears

DH has emailed me a document and I can double click and save it as much as I like but can't bloody open it.

What kind of file is it? Word doc?

That means that the file needs to be opened with a program that you don't have installed on your machine. What's the file extension (the bit in the filename after the dot)?

DH cut and pasted it into an email.

Am now having trouble as I can't open more than one window.
