Can you give me any possible reasons why I'm having problems with certain websites? Specifically John Lewis and NotOnTheHighStreet.

I just can't get through to those sites although I have no problem on my PC. Have tried through Safari and Firefox - I'm new to Apple so may be doing something really stupid!

Littledawley, that looks okay. Are you getting the right result for johnlewis.com too?

Littledawley · 08/06/2009 20:58

There aren't any boxes to the right!!

I was wondering the same thing littledawley.

Confuzzeled · 08/06/2009 21:02

The most recent update made my mac decide not to go to the bank website at all. I uninstalled it and it solved the problem. Will just wait a few weeks then check for updates again and apple will have fixed it.

Themasterandmargaritas · 08/06/2009 21:04

oh really? It's a bit annoying though. So where do I go to get updates?

singleWhiteMale · 08/06/2009 21:09

Littledawley, my network setup looks like this one:

www.littlebighuman.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/network-preferences.png
I meant the text fields on the right, with numbers in.

Themasterandmargarita... are you using a modem not a router? 3g?

Littledawley · 08/06/2009 21:20

Airport is connected, ethernet is not.

It is set to configure automatically. To do it manually, I don't know my router address, just IP (not subnet) and DNS.

Littledawley, Did you do the lookup test for johnlewis.com? If that works there's no point fiddling about with your airport setings..

Littledawley · 08/06/2009 21:30

SingleWhiteDad - I am giving up and going to sleep but thank-you very much for your time and advice.

On Lookup it says...

Lookup has started ...

That's fine. Try plugging in with a cable tommorow. You're maybe not getting a good connection on the wifi.

Good night

Thank you all. Sorry I went AWOL last night, I ran out of credit

Singlewhitemale, I am using a 3G dongle.

Confuzzeled I am downloading a java update, maybe that will help? Otherwise its a huge OS update which will wipe out my credit again

Littledawley · 10/06/2009 09:27

It worked perfectly when we plugged it in... Very curious.
