Dull dull question: Can 2 PCs be backed up onto one external hard drive?

My PC backs up automatically onto an external hard drive. Anyone know if I can plug a laptop into the same external HD and back that up too? Or do I have to get another HD?
Sorry to be so dull and boring, but I don't want to risk losing all my files.

Yes you can back them both up to the same drive (space permitting of course). Just create a new folder on the HD (call it something obvious like "laptop"), and tell the laptop to backup to there.

If they're backing up automatically on a schedule, set them up to run at different times so they'll run better.
