So I can't do anything with it. It's not appearing in my itunes list and the ipod itself has frozen.

anyway to reset it?

Why can't itunes find it?

You could shut down your PC and then disconnect and try again.

Mung · 09/05/2009 21:43

It would mean coming off MN for a while too

DHs first bit of advice is to shut down and computers are his business...often solves the problem.

MerlinsBeard · 09/05/2009 21:44

mine has done this a couple of times, i let the battery run out and then reconnect it and it has been fine

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/05/2009 21:44

I agree to shut the pc down, it worked for mine.

Surfermum · 09/05/2009 21:45

Mine did this. Took me days of googling to find a solution ... which was to switch off the PC, switch it off at the wall, wait a bit, turn it all back on.

fruitstick · 09/05/2009 21:46

shutting the pc hasn't worked (was my first thought

will try letting the battery run out but doesn't that take days?

Did you take the plug to the PC out of the wall? It was doing that that made the difference with mine.

fruitstick · 09/05/2009 21:51

I'm on a laptop so it makes no difference!

oh and it's a mac not a pc

Off the top of my head, try pressing & holding the middle button of the iPod for a few seconds?

retiredgoth2 · 09/05/2009 21:58

....you will have to let the battery run out.

I don't know why this happens, but sometimes it just does! It is nothing to do with your Mac, nothing you do to that will make any difference.

....if the screen is illuminated (as it has been when this has happened with iPods here at Goth Towers) then the battery will run down surprisingly quickly, overnight certainly, as the display is power hungry....
