Please help before I throw this laptop out the window!

I am doing a report. It has to be in tomorrow morning, 9am. I have been working on it all day.

Using Word 2007, how do I put a box round selected text? I've written the report, so I don't want to faff around with adding text boxes now, because it will changed the whole layout. Is there an easy way?

Please save my sanity!

Highlight it
click the little border box (will be on the main tab I think)

StealthPolarPig · 07/05/2009 22:34

you'll need to select "all borders" or whatever
sorry, don't have word 2007 on this machine any more since it crashed, so it's difficult to tell you the exact stuff.

StealthPolarPig · 07/05/2009 22:35

this might also help

StealthPolarPig · 07/05/2009 22:37

Well I'm off now but if you really can't get it sorted you can email it to me at Kate Fallon44 @hotmail. com and I'll be able to help at about 1.30 tomorow afternoon

SausageRoleModel · 07/05/2009 22:40

did you get it sorted MrsMuddle? You can also add a box by creating a table with just one column and one row. That doesn't mess with the formatting and layout as much as text boxes.

I'm so cross eyed now, I don't know what I'm doing! I'll try now, and come back to the thread in 5 mins or so...

Thank you so much, both of you. I did it my creating a table, SausageRoleModel.

SPP, thank you so much for your kind offer. It almost overwhelmed me! I gave up trying to find the borders tab. This is DH's machine, and I've never used Word 2007 before. I am not finding it intuitive, as he said I would.

Sorry this is probably a bit too late - borders would probably be easier than tables, in Word 2007 you can find them on the 'Paragraph' section of the 'Home' tab - the last icon on the bottom row that looks like a window, click on the down arrow next to it for a menu that includes 'outside borders'.

2007 is better IMO once you get to know it but until then it's incredibly frustrating as they have stuff popping up that's context sensitive (so you can spend hours searching only for it to appear when you give up ) and it has minute arrows on the boxes in the ribbon which give you extra options - but until someone shows you them you don't actually notice them!
Glad you got it sorted

StealthPolarPig - I did spend hours looking for stuff last night, and then found most of it by accident today!

MrVibrating, you have given me technical advice before. Thank you.

I have got a word 2007 for idiots book out the library. I'm sure I'll gte used to it.

I was at the end of my tether last night. Thank you all for your help. It was a report for a client, so really quite important.
