ipod touch help needed, please!

I wonder if anyone can talk me through this. I was playing a game on ds' ipod touch earlier and then took a look to see what else it could do. I've got myself stuck on the play he's studying for English lit. How do I get back to the main menu so that he doesn't know I've been playing on it, please? Switching it off and then on again doesn't do the trick and I don't want it to freeze up on me.

there should be button near the bottem of the screen with a circle or a square on it. just click that and it will take you to the menu. then to lock it there should be another button on the top click that.

Ah, thank you Kay4MattTTC. Unfortunately, ds was home from school about 4pm so I had to confess. He did show me the way back to the menu and it is the circle near the bottom of the screen so I know now ready for the next time.
