It can't be that difficult can it? Just maybe a bit time consuming?

Can anyone give me some pointers I am with 1&1 for hosting and website.

Am self employed but got a bit of spare time on my hands about one afternoon a week.

Thanks!

Did you build your website yourself? If so and you have access to the code, you definitely don't need to pay lots of money for search engine optimisation. The most effective SEO is about choosing the right keywords and then making sure they are represented effectively across your site, i.e. that they appear often in the text. It is also important that they appear in your title and description metatags. And your site being updated regularly is important for search engines too. You should also create an xml site map (www.xml-sitemaps.com/) which helps search engines. This sounds a lot more daunting than it is !! Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask...
