well...over the last few weeks we have started to experience connection probs with our broadband....is it time to change provider....?
We were years ago with Freeserve and than we started to experience connection problems that were un-sortable...until we changed provider....
we just can't work out what the problem could be, all of a sudden...it's so annoying...

Certainly some providers are rubbish, but there are lots of other possible causes.

Does the router disconnect from the broadband service or are you using wireless to connect the computer to the router and that is disconnecting? Wireless is especially tricky because it's subject to interference.

The router itself can suffer from interference from things like fridges that click on and off and xmas tree lights that flicker(well not right now, but you get the idea)

Also those filters you put in the phone sockets can become faulty and need replacing. There must be a working filter for everything that plugs into the phone line.

Another thing is the phone line itself. If you unplug everything else and use an ordinary analogue phone to dial 17070 you get an automated service. Select 'Quiet Line Test' and see if you can hear crackling on the line.

IMO Talk Talk are truely one of the worst companies I have had the misfortune to try to do business with.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

thank you , you two...will try out those things that you mention onagar...btw, it only seems to do this in the evening....but not sure, if it is due to more people in the hosue using the internet at that time, or what....oh and we have wireless broadband...my es needs to use a dongle (? is that what it is called?) and in dh's and mine it is wireless build in, iykwim..

cece..you see, until now we have been pretty happy with talk talk and have been with them for like nearly 4 years now, wihtout major problems...

I left them after 22 days and they are still hassling me. When I hear their music on TV ad it sends shivers down my spine! I refuse to actually try to speak to them by phone now. Lucky you not having any problems till now!

Talktalk for fine for their free broadband.

Until something goes wrong.

They are the bane of my life, but still the cheapest one out there IMO
