Facebook - what is the difference between a group and an organisation?

I run a non-profit and would like to have a FB page.

I know similar groups who set it up as an organisation so people become fans. But what is the difference between that and being a group? Are there advantages of one over the other?

Yes the advantages are, that as an organisation people will think that you have a proper cause and are for real. Where as being a 'group' that people just join, will just be for advertisement. I would say being an organistaion would be more beneficial to you.

sorry I came here to help not ask questions ...but ... isn't it true that anyone can join one but the other has to go to the 'moderator' type person to get approved?

Anyone can join a GROUP but yes the organistaion needs to go to the FB Moderator and get checked out, make sure its legit.
