Why do links make my computer to annoying things?

If I click on a link, more often then not it will freeze and come up with

'Windows Internet Explorer provided by Dell (not responding)'

And then gives me the options to restart, close window or wait till it responds.

It seems to be doing it more since I installed my printer(?). I've already done a deep scan on it and its all ok, but this problem is driving me mad.

Help, please!!!

(I'm not very good with computers BTW!)

I don't know specifically, but it sounds like something has been corrupted there. I suggest you post which OS you have (XP or Vista perhaps?) and which version of IE from the "Help - About Internet Explorer" Menu.

If you have only just installed the printer and this problem has just started then you may want to try doing a system restore. Not the one from the Dell CD. The one you get to by right clicking My Computer, selecting Properties and the System Restore tab.
That ought to offer to put things back to one or more dates (you want the one just before the printer)

If some time has gone by I don't recommend that as it will undo other things.

Also go to the start menu and click the RUN box and type eventvwr.msc
That gets you to the events viewer and you should find two lists called Applications and System with red icons showing where things went wrong. It might give more details about what happened.

Thanks for replying onagar.

I will take this thread and my laptop over to my brothers for him to do (told you I'm useless!)

He should be able to do what you recommend, and will see if it helps.

Cheers again
