Bought a linux notebook last week Acer One series.
I got linux cos people kept saying its great and faster than windows.
When it arrived I followed the instructions to type in the bt home hub number and password, no connection.
Tried allsorts,no connection.
Unplugged the desktop from the home hub, plugged in the netbook and it connects to the internet straight away.
When we are trying to use it wireless it can detect our bt and next doors Sky, so something is working.
A techie friend said oh you just need to keep trying different configurations on the notebook and bt software (on the desktop) till it works. Then he went on hols for 2 weeks leaving us still with no idea!
I even rang the supplier and asked if I could return it as not fit for purpose (well its not for a pair of technophobes is it ) but they said no, but won't give any technical support cos I didn't cough up to subscribe to their technical help line.
Am getting very frustrated and thinking of just chucking it out the window

If anyone can help I'd be incredibly grateful as we just don't have money to waste on a useless notebook [sobbing emoticon]

Found this page which looks similar to your problem. Any good?

As far as I can tell it looks like its talking about my useless lump of metal notebook!

I will get dp to try this later on.

Its soo frustrating for us - we only got a wireless hub and notbook as we're both self employed and sometimes have whole evenings with no conversation at all, we just wait for turns on the computer to do invoicing, emailing or research new customers.

Honest when the postie brought the notebook I thought we'd get our life back but its made things much worse this past week, arrghghghh!
