Argh - cannot open any files on my pc and google chrome keeps crashing...HELP!

Kept getting error message sometghing like Whoops! Google Chrome has crashed. Retry? Ended up, I removed it (add/remove programs) and used internet explorer instead, planning to reinstall it right away.

Then I tried to load my essay for uni, I got error message "This application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click OK to terminate program" Ive tried a few applications - loading photos, and microsoft works spreadsheet, but get same message.

I have McAfee AV and personal firewall plus and they say there was trojans in temp folders with internet explorer. BUT they couldnt find folder when I tried to heal / delete them. So I just deleted temp files through internet explorer.

Please help!

Well I'd run a full scan if you haven't already with McAfee.

If there is a trojan (and some of those in temp files are false alarms) then it could have damaged essential system files.

System Restore might help you if this only just happened. You get to it by right clicking My Computer and selecting properties. You should then see a tab for it.

It only restores certain windows files and I hate it because it's hard to know what it will 'fix' and what it won't, but for something that only just happened it may get you out of trouble. Do the scan first, but be aware that restore might restore the trojan too so scan again if you decide to use it.
