How do I download photos to my PC?

I need to download some photos from my phone and also my sons digital camera to my PC. The first few times I did it a box came up asking me if I wanted to transfer the files and it was all very simple. Now whenever I plug the cable in, it recognises the device but dosn't ask if I want to transfer the files. Please help, I'm really crap with computers!

Did you download any software with the camera? Maybe you have to open that first? Otherwise, have you got Adobe photoshop? My camera will automatically download to that.

Just tried opening the software that came with the camera, but still no joy. Any other ideas?

Does the camera appear in 'My Computer' ? some kinds you can open up like a folder and drag them out.

Plug cable in. (switch on camera if necessary - some do some don't).

Go to "my computer". You should see a variety of "drives" one of which will be your camera. Probably E, F, G something like that.
