It is 3 weeks old.

We need it imminently for trip to Europe

No helpline at weekend

Shop not sure if they can replace it as a licensed hi-tech product needing return to manufacturer

  1. Anyone idea of a workaround?
  1. What are my rights as far as stomping/screaming with the shop and insisting they replace it and THEY can return it to the manufacturer?

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

Obviously the shop should replace it - your contract is with them not with TomTom.

On the geeky side, have you tried a reset? There should be a little hole marked 'reset' (it can be a bit hard to find on some models). Stick something pointy in there to press and hold the little button inside. While you're doing that press and hold the normal power button for a few seconds. With a bit of luck it will restart.

I hate to say it but is it fully charged? Plug it into your car and try turning it on again (with the engine running).

Thanks all

DH took it back to the shop who tried a reset but that didn't work either. And it was fully charged BTW - had been sitting in its dock updating most of the afternoon.

They have however (apparently) replaced it with a brand new one.

Which hopefully will work!

Thanks anyway.
