Please could someone tell me what tracking cookies are and how I can stop the little buggers sneaking onto my laptop? AVG is going mad!!

You can set your internet options to refuse cookies I think.

tracking cookies are not all that evil. AVG is being a bit alarmist.

Mostly they are to help advertisers keep track of what you are interested in on different sites so they can display adverts to attract you. It's an invasion of privacy, but BT Broadband do something similar now and that's built into the system and they are proud of it.

You can go to Control Panel - Internet Options and on the Privacy tab there is a slider bar. Raise it slightly and it offers different levels of protection from cookies. You don't want to disable cookies entirely as they serve a useful purpose
