I've always been a mac user (am sitting at the Mini Mac at the moment) BUT I have been so disappointed with our Macbook. We have been through two hard drives in less than two years and Mac has denied that they are of a substandard quality. Rather interestingly, the internet help forums are full of similar complaints...

Our battery life is also pathetic compared with our first macbook.

I understand that the macbook is now available with a 'solid state hard drive' despite claims that there is nothing wrong with the other type and my advice would be to go for that option for sure.

HTH.

John Lewis -- comes with a 2 year guarantee; all Macs come with the 1 year Apple Care, but JL add their own service at the end of that year

And Apple do not negotiate Went into local Apple Store (I so want that clutter free life!) and said that John Lewis were offering 2 years, could they match it? They said 'no'

VinegarTitsSmellsTrolls · 26/03/2009 13:12

DH has macbook with him in the UK so I am not sure of model... (Tis white, not too big but far from as light as the air. How technical sounding is that?)

Well done for the purchase and welcome to the dark-side.

ingles2 · 31/03/2009 11:16

So, have you got it VT?
How is it? and are you converted yet?

I am on my 2nd 17"Mac Book, though the last was a Poeerbook and this is a Macbook Pro. The last one lasted 4 years, not bad seeing as I dropped it and spilt wine all over it. It took a lot of abuse!

I also have a Mac Air, for travelling, I did buy the superdrive too, but tend to put stuff on a memory stick. You can bluetooth stuff from a PC or another mac to the Air ( so I am told) I love the feel of it, it is sooo sleek!

We have had every Mac since they came out, over 23 years, except the mac mini. We have 5 in the house, we are Mac mad!

No problems buying from refurb, DS macbook died at 11 months old and they replaced it.
